NES DECA 2000

Update 1/2/2001: The Games have begun! Start submitting your scores!

Your votes are needed! The deadline was extended due to my busy schedule and lack of respondents. So here are the details..

First Place recieves a money order in the amount of $50US to the winner of the NES DECA.

The DECA Prizes have changed thanks to Ron Corcoran! Thanks Ron!

The new prize structure is:
First Place: $50
Second Place: $25
Third Place: CAPCOM CD-ROM (PC)

In the event of a tie (highly unlikely) all the names of the people tied will be put in a box and the winner will be drawn from there. Originally, I was going to split the winnings, however since its hard to split a CD and the second place prize is not easily divisible, I decided to take the lottery approach for ties.

All videos or pictures must be postmarked by Feb 28th, 2001 in order to be eligible.

Please submit your vote for the 10 games you would like to see in the DECA. The top 10 games will be the ones played durring the DECA. Voting will end at the end of October. The DECA will then begin Jan 1st, 2001and End on Feb 28th, 2001.

@EMAIL@ you votes! Please only send me one list.

Games that do not have a scoring mechanisim will be disqualified from the running. Timed games will be looked at on a case by case basis to determine if they qualify for the DECA.

These are the games in the lead. Since we only want 10, if there is a tie, the games will be chosen randomly. So in the case of the list below, everything with 3 votes would be put in a single group and 1of the 7 games would be chosen at random from that group. If the vote were to end today, the following games would be in the DECA:

(game) (votes)

  • Super Mario Bros. 9
  • Tetris 8
  • Mike Tyson Punch-Out 5
  • 1943 4
  • Dr. Mario 4
  • Galaga 4
  • Gauntlet 4
  • Spy Hunter 4
  • Castlevania 3
  • Marble Madness 3
  • So if you don't like those, you better put your Vote in. You may notice that Super Mario Bros 3 is not listed even though it has more votes. The reason is that the number one vote is Super Mario Bros. I want some variety in the contest and have randomly substitued a game for it. I also randomly picked a game for the number 10 spot from the games that had 3 votes. This may change if I get more votes, otherwise these are the 10 games we will be playing.
